Valentine’s Day is coming up, and instead of making something that’s tacky and pink, I decided to have a little fun and make something that gets people blushing.

This plush measures to about 6.5 inches long. But I mean, the size doesn’t really matter, it’s how you use it that counts, amiright?

**Note: I worked in continuous rounds (vs. joined rounds)

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Purple & Green Sport Weight Yarn

  • 3mm Crochet Hook

  • Polyfill or Cotton for stuffing

  • Scissors

  • Darning Needle

  • Stitch Marker

  • Pins (to help with assembly)

Terminology
st(s): stitch(es)
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
inc: two single crochets in one stitch
dec: single crochet two stitches together
sl st: slip stitch
(…) x # : repeat anything in the parenthesis however many times the number indicates
[#]: total number of stitches for that row
#sc: one sc in each of the following # stitches

This is when you start creating the first leaf spike.

Fasten off, weave in the end of the yarn tail.

Leaf Spikes

Leaf Spike A
with green yarn
1 sl st into the st to the left of the first triangle you created, sc in to the same st that you sl st into, 4sc, turn [5]
2 4sc, turn [4]
3 dec twice, turn [2]
4 sc in all sts, turn [2]
5 dec [1]
Fasten off, weave in the end of the yarn tail.

Eggplant Amigurumi Spike Crochet

Leaf Spike B
with green yarn
1 sl st into the st 2sts to the left of the previous spike, sc in the same st that you sl st into, 5sc, turn [6]
2 sc in all sts, turn [6]
3 dec, 2sc, dec, turn [4]
4 sc in all sts, turn [4]
5 dec twice [2]
Fasten off, weave in the end of the yarn tail.

Leaf Spike C
with green yarn
1 sl st into the st to the left of the previous spike, sc in the same st that you sl st into, 5sc, turn [6]
2 sc in all sts, turn [6]
3 dec, 2sc, dec, turn [4]
4 sc in all sts, turn [4]
5 dec twice, turn [2]
6 sc in all sts, turn [2]

Fasten off, weave in the end of the yarn tail.

Crochet Eggplant Free Pattern Blog Step 6

Continue around the top piece. Repeat spike A and spike B. Leave the end tail of the last spike longer (See Picture →).

You will use it to sew the green top to the body of the eggplant.

Assembly

Pin the completed green top onto the smaller end of the eggplant and sew in place.
